Predictive power-state manager for servers and control systems

This technology watches how much power a computing system has used in the past to predict how much it will need in the future, then automatically switches the system to an appropriate power state before that demand arrives. The key constraint is that the switch must not cause the system to miss its performance guarantees — it will not exceed a user-defined acceptable level of performance degradation. In effect, it is a predictive power manager that balances energy savings against guaranteed responsiveness. It applies to any predetermined system with measurable workloads, such as servers, industrial controllers, or embedded computing platforms.
